Your goal

Set up a practical cleaning routine for the tools you use.

Try it step by step

  1. The AAD recommends washing brushes every seven to ten days. Rinse the tips with lukewarm water, clean with gentle shampoo and rinse until clear.
  2. Squeeze out moisture with a clean towel and lay brushes flat to dry with the tips over an edge. Avoid soaking the base of the bristles.
  3. Remove makeup before bed using products appropriate for your routine. Keep eye tools clean and do not share eye cosmetics.

Practise this

Set a brush-cleaning reminder and leave clean brushes somewhere they can dry completely.

Check your result

Your tools are clean and dry before the next application.

A common mistake

Putting damp tools straight into a closed makeup bag.
